Full Body Scanners Dangerous? Naked Airports Scanners Dangerous

Are those new scanners that see right through our clothes dangerous? Thats the question that many travellers are now asking. Not only asking themselves - are these scanners dangerous, mind you but asking the authorities also.

You see, these new hi tech security scanners at the airports use a technology that is unknown. And from memory most unknown technologies that we liked we did not want to believe could cause us harm. After all. there are plenty of examples of unknown dangers. Smoking is one. Radioactivity is another. Asbestos. We could go on about all of these known carcinogens but in their time they were considered harmless.

Now take these scanners for example. They use radiation. Low levels probably wont harm us but to get the detail in these scanners perhaps something higher than low level has to be used.

And now there are reports. Probably nothing will come of them. I just wouldnt want to be going through those scanners terribly often.

Facebook Email Service - Is the New Facebook Email Good?

Facebook is releasing a new Facebook email service. Kept under wraps for quite some tim under the code name project Titan, or similar - thats how secretive it is - the new Facebook email service is rumoured to be a gmail killer.

To achieve this, the new Facebook webmail service will have to be good. But seriously, just how good can any email service be, particularly web based.

In this writers humble opinion, email is about practicality. Sure there are a number of features you can combine but lets face it, perhaps you dont want it shared with all of your friends... or hmm...anyway. Besides, doesnt Facebook already have enough ways of socially networking or combining the online world with the real one?

Perhaps is is just a case of constantly trying to improve or remain at the cutting edge or become slowly irrelevant, as MySpace is desperately trying to avoid.

Wait and see eh.

Adroid Smartphone Really Is An Apple Killer

Thats right... Apparently sales figures released recently show that the Android smartphones market share grew by well over 600% Last year.

To put that in real terms, Android started out the year with about 3.5% of the market. It is now at 25.5% - which gives the Android more in market share than the iPhone, Blackberry or Nokia.

In addition, RIM, Nokia and Apple have all seen declines in market share over the year, which might indicate that the Android is successfully competing against all of them.

Popular comment on the web following this news realease in Australia, The US and Great Britain is running hot, most noticeably from Apple fans. Personally I just think its a phone.

Hang on i have lost my Versace glasses, I better put my Levis Jeans on and open a Jack Daniels.

After all, brand isnt everything, it seems.

Military Intelligence - Just Got Dumber

According to recent news reports, the US military is researching ways to make the bad guys less intellingent. I mean less ingenninueus. Less clever. Anyway, while this type of thing has largely been the domain of cartoons and science fiction, it is actually making some headway.

Pardon my pun.

We should remember perhaps that science fiction has had ideas, many in actual fact, that have now been created as real and usable technolgies. Mobile phones, ray guns, holograms, and many more besides.

We should be worried.

On the bonus side, if this weapon is ever developed, since it makes people dumber, we might not even know it has been used.

Hnag on - maybe it already exists!!! That would explain a few things

Google is now trialling a perk with a difference for its employees.

Online service Taskrabbit offers services that cater to the everyday tasks that perhaps some of us dont get the time to do every day.

Things like take the garbage out....hang clothes out...drop off bags of ice...poop patrol on the lawn to remove doggy doo doos...things like that. For a small fee of course.

These services are apparently form part of Googles attempts to maintain employee longevity and stem losses to rival companies.

Nasa is looking for volunteers to go to Mars. They will attempt to colonise the planet. Heres the deal. The astronauts volunteer, and are resupplied from earth. All the while, presumably, striving to sustain themselves in this hostile environment.

Heres the catch. The astronausts sent to colonise Mars wont be coming back. Probably.

Doesnt that sort of underscore the need to take care of the planet we have?

The fastest computer in the world used to be in the USA. Not anymore.

A computer named Tianhe-1A, displayed on Wednesday at a presentation in Beijing, China, can run calculations quicker than the last current fastest processor, a computer at a U.S.A research facility in Tennessee.

The new fastest computer set a speed record by processing 2.507 petaflops of data simultaneously. The last leader, a computer called Cray XT5 Jaguar based at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, performed 1.75 petaflop calcs.
Analysts say the new standard highlights China's place as a worldwide tech leader.
